ESRI eTraining is a great resource for learning how to use GIS and specific ESRI software, with hundreds of courses available for free to members of the U-Mass Amherst community. Most courses are free. Instructor-led courses are not but we do get a discount. If you're interested in an instructor-led course, please contact jkopera@geo.umass.edu at least 2 weeks before the course date.
ArcGIS Online is a web-based GIS ecosystem that contains a multitude of useful tools for sharing data, maps, etc... Many instructors use it in their courses. Use the following steps to create an ArcGIS Online account on U-Mass's ArcGIS Online organization and, from there, access E-training.
- You can access eTraining and ArcGIS Online by logging in at https://umass-amherst.maps.arcgis.com and clicking "Sign In" in the upper right-hand corner. You will be taken to the familiar UMass login screen. If you don't already have an account, one will be created for you once you sign in.
- To access eTraining, once you're logged in, click on your username in the upper-right corner of the screen, and click on the link to "Training" that should be in the menu.
- From there you can expore ESRI's eTraining resources. You can search their catalog of trainings by selecting "Courses" in the menu bar.
- The U-Mass GIS Hub has a list of recommended eTrainings, in addition to other resources to help you with your GIS practice.
