Dr. Elizabeth Williams is a physical scientist at the US Geological Survey in the Geosciences and Environmental Change Science Center. Her research focuses on understanding the effects of climate and land-use change on carbon and nutrient cycling in soils and on the improved characterization of soil carbon stabilization and turnover dynamics. Liz received a BS in Chemistry from Howard University and completed her PhD in Earth and Environmental Science from Tulane University. She also completed post-docs at the University of California – Merced and the University of Pennsylvania in isotope geochemistry and soil biogeochemistry. Liz is passionate about education and geoscience outreach, and is the Diversity Director for AWG Laramide and other volunteer activities.
