Cosmogenic Nuclide Laboratory

The UMass Cosmogenic Nuclide Laboratory allows us to process bedrock, soil, and sediment samples for a range of applications, including exposure dating, soil production rate, and denudation rate measurements. Over 800 square feet of clean room space gives us the ability to perform all the steps for extraction of in situ-produced and meteoric ¹⁰Be, as well as ²⁶Al from geological samples, from initial sample clean up to packing cathodes for AMS measurement.
