I come to UMass with a MS from Rice University, where I studied the geologic record of ice-sheet dynamics. In 2014 I had the opportunity to go to Antarctica and collect data on the continental shelf, where the Antarctic Ice Sheet was once grounded in the past - we mapped seafloor features and collected sediment cores. My MS thesis research reconstructed past ice-sheet behavior in the Ross Sea, Antarctica. At UMass, I will incorporate that kind of interpretation of geologic data with an ice-sheet modelling approach to understand the behavior and stability of the cryosphere.
