Research Interests:

I am interested in understanding and predicting climate variability and change on timescales ranging from several weeks to decades.  My current research uses dynamical models and hindcast data, along with various statistical techniques, to characterize uncertainty in the climate system and evaluate physical mechanisms that may provide sources of predictability.  Projects include evaluating the impact of the Madden-Julian Oscillation on North American circulation patterns, characterizing seasonal jumps in the latitude of eastern African rainfall, and examining the predictability of the Arctic Oscillation in NCEP's Climate Forecast System model.  From 2010-2013, I have worked as a contractor at the NOAA Climate Prediction Center.
