Pierre came to the University of Massachusetts in october 1998 after getting his Ph.D. in 1997 from the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium). He applied simple but usefull imaging techniques to thin-sections of lake sediments. He is now working in the Climate System Research Center and is now dealing with the study of laminated sediments from Arctic lakes using image analysis techniques....
