High camp at 5600m, shortly after we arrived. Porters and others are visible preparing the camp. Our tent is the yellow Kelty. In the background is the east ridge of Sajama.
22 June Update from High Camp
Greetings!
Our hard drive did not explode, much to our happiness! We arrived at High Camp about 1600, after about a 4 hour walk up. The slope was much snowier than last year, which made things a bit easier. We had a beautiful sunny day for the climb, and were accompanied by Bolivian guide Gonzalo. We will head for the summit either tomorrow or the next day.
From the summit, we have heard that drilling may begin tomorrow.
The balloon crew has arrived at Base Camp, except for Roland who is also here at High Camp. The fuel and balloon will start up soon! More news to come.
