Suspended Sediment Transport and Deposition in Lake C2: Objectives
1. Objectives
Studies of sediment flux in the lake were designed to compliment climatological, hydrological, and snowmelt studies conducted in the watershed and to provide a link with invesigation of laminated sediments. This research atempted:
- to determine the processes operating in the lake responsible for the formation of laminated sediments;
- to quantify the annual suspended sediment flux into the lake in order to approximate the sediment contained in one couplet or varve during that year, and
- to understand how sediment transport and deposition in the lake reflect lake dynamics, hydrologic and climatic forcing conditions.
