This CD contains digital data related to the compilation of Surficial Geologic characteristics for the quadrangles of Norwood, Blue Hills, Brockton, Taunton, Whitman, Bridgewater, Assawompsett Pond, Hanover, Duxbury, and Scituate, all in Southeast Massachusetts.


The digital data files are organized in two folders:

1- "E00_files":

Arc INFO Interchange Files for each of the surficial geology layers extracted 
from the original Surficial Geology Maps. They can be imported into coverages 
for analysis, display, etc. The field with labelling information is “UNITABBR”.

They follow this name convention: 
“compilation_ln.e00”: polygon boundaries vectorized from the original map. Each polygon is attributed with the label present in the original map.
“compilation_af.e00”:  Artificial fills (af)
“compilation_ha.e00”:  Holocene alluvium (Qal)
“compilation_sw.e00”:  Swamps (Qs) and cranberry bogs (cb)
“compilation_ocsb.e00”:  Outcrops and shallow bedrock areas (Oc, Sb)
“compilation_qsd.e00”:  Till-Glacial Stratified Deposits (Qsd, Qt)
“compilation_ma.e00”:  Marine Swamps (Qsm)
“compilation_drum.e00”:  Drumlims (Qd)
“compilation_bd.e00”:  Beach and dune deposits (Qb, Qbd)
and others.

PROJECTION: All layers provided are in UTM-Zone 19
DATUM: NAD-27

2- "Print_files":

“Sfgeo_compilation.pdf”

Surficial Geologic Map: 
-All Surficial Geology layers
-30 feet elevation contours, roads and hydrology vector data obtained from Mass GIS
-Appropriate legend and explanations.
