Geologic and subsurface information for Massachusetts comes in many forms and is provided by a variety of agencies, including the USGS and Office of the State Geologist. If you're looking for a geologic map, the place to start is National Geologic Map Database, which is a searchable index of almost all the geologic maps for the country, including those produced by the OMSG. If you're looking for a report from the USGS, try the USGS Publications Warehouse. Keep in mind that both the USGS and OMSG produce bedrock and surficial geologic maps of the state. If you're looking for statewide geologic maps, please visit our About Massachusetts Geology page. If you're looking for all the maps available for a given area/town, the National Geologic Map Database is a good place to start. If you're looking for a particular type of geologic data, such as subsurface information, water data, fracture-characterization maps, etc... please peruse the menus by data-type below-- there's lots of data out there! |
