Cosmogenic Isotope Chronology, Seward Peninsula and NC Brooks Range
SEWARD PENINSULA GLACIAL SEQUENCE
Large erratics were sampled where possible. We were especially concerned about frost
cracking and weathering of the rock surface and possible emergence of the erratic to the
tundra surface by frost heave.
Left and right paired photos of the Late Wisconsin Mt. Osborn moraines
exiting a small cirque into in the valley of Cobblestone Creek. Here the sequence consists
of three nested moraines. All were sampled for cosmogenic analyses.
Ridge of the Salmon Lake moraine exiting Cobblestone Creek. This is thought to be of
early Wisconsin age.
