The estate of Paul Smith Mushovic (B.S. Geology, 1969) recently made a generous $10,000 gift to the scholarship fund.

The Department is very grateful to Mr. Paul Smith Mushovic lately of Surprise Arizona. Mr. Mushovic earned a B.S. in Geology from our department in 1969 and also received a Mater’s degree in Regional Planning from UMass in 1972. Mr. Mushovic spent most of his career as a geoscientist working for the EPA out of their Denver office. Several months ago, Mr. Mushovic passed away and remembered our department in his will. He bequeathed the Leo M. Hall Scholarship Fund $10,000. All of us are touched by this very generous act of giving back to the Department.

Leo Hall was Professor of Geology in this Department from 1967 until his death on December 26, 1985.  Among many other qualities, Leo was noted for his devotion to field study and to the teaching of field methods.  This award in his name is given to undergraduate or graduate students in support of field research.
