Absolute Gravity at UMass Amherst

Somewhere on campus is a measurement of the absolute gravity. That is, the Earth pulls at this amount at this spot on the Earth.

The site is at Morrill IV south, the Geosciences Department. The station is a small metal pipe embedded in the stoop just at the entrance at the northwest corner of Morrill IV South. The absolute gravity measured there is 980374.41 mgals. The location is 42o 23.43' North and 72o 31.50' West.
