Human geography, AKA cultural geography and political ecology, is a global survey of the geographies of human population, economics, history, politics, religion & belief systems and social systems.  The course provides students with broad understandings of the processes , patterns, and perceptions of our global community, and enhances geographic literacy. The relationships between themes and between themes, location and place are examined in detail. We explore culture through language arts, case studies, and interactive tools. Guest speakers from diverse cultural backgrounds support traditional lectures. At UMass, where 3 sections where taught, hands-on geography labs were developed and incorporated into large lectures.
