RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT

Sept 2017: Alan has moved from UMass Amherst to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution!

Sept 2016: Alan has been promoted to Associate Professor at UMass Amherst.

Oct 2014: Alan has an exciting paper in Nature Geoscience showing that massive icebergs drifted to Miami, Florida, during the last ice age. These icebergs were at least 300m thick and left hundreds of scour marks on the sea floor all the way from Cape Hatteras to Florida Keys. More details can be found here.

Sept 2016: Alan has been awarded a $126,201 grant from the Biological and Environmental Research division of the U.S. Department of Energy. This research will develop ultra-high resolution climate models to study whether a collapse of the West Antarctic ice sheet in the next 50-300 years poses a threat to global climate.
