(Erin hiking the 2nd largest peak in Nevada)

B.A. in Geosciences and Classics at Franklin & Marshall College

M.S. in Hydrogeology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (in progress)

Erin is currently studying natural hydraulic fractures in sandstones by observing their surfaces and characterizing the microcracks associated with the fractured tips. After getting her masters Erin would like to get her PhD.

Evan Earnest Heckler

(Evan enjoying the scenic views of Alcatraz, San Francisco, California)

B.S. in Geology at Colorado State University

M.S. in Structural Geology at the University of Wisconsin Madison

Thesis: “Quantifying the effects of a weak phase on the rheology of naturally deformed, polyphase rocks, Mt. Isa Inlier, Australia”

PhD. in Hydrogeology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (in progress)

Evan's current interests are 3-fold: 1) investigating the role of in-situ stress orientations on fracture aperture and fluid pathways in fractured crystalline rocks; 2) Assessment of storage and transmissivity estimates for fractured bedrock aquifers; and 3) Structural heterogeneity in regional groundwater models. These topics will serve as the basis for his dissertation.

He is also currently involved in the planning stages of the DUSEL ecohydrology project (P.I. David Boutt) at the former Homestake mine in South Dakota: http://www.dusel.org/
