Noah  and Nicole will be giving a talk entitled Integrating physical geoscience and social geography to address flood hazards. The RiverSmart Communities project aims to address the needs of rural Massachusetts communities related to fluvial hazards and community flood resiliency. Our approach includes assessing the needs and strengths of these communities, determining best-practices for flood management that incorporates the science of fluvial geomorphology (FGM), and producing outreach and education material. In this week’s ProSem, Noah Slovin and Nicole Gillett, graduate students working on two different aspects of this project, will share about their work for RiverSmart and their related theses.
