Session-Theme Applications-Exercises: 50% of final grade
· Five(5) Graded Thematic Exercises: Each 10% of final grade
Session-Module Generic and Project-Specific
Several exercises are not graded, but devoted to GIS techniques common to-supporting student projects. |
|
Evaluations: 20% of final grade
· Terms & Concepts-Midterm 10% Derived directly from lecture-discussion, the textbook, and additional-select course material. A short multiple-choice exam.
· Two (2) one-on-one skills and organization assessments 5% each. |
|
Grade percentages are flexible-personalized for each student (within 10%); reflecting established student proficiencies-demonstrable intelligences, and academic or professional focus.
Due dates for assignments-evaluations are fixed, but do have a 2-day buffer before being considered ‘late’. Late-work may lead to doing two assignments at once, a diffusion of effort, and a learning-grade reduction.
Generally speaking, there is a direct relationship between attendance and grades; rather self-regulating, as well as (again) a diffusion of effort and the consequences of such.

SUPPORT: Online Support Documents (PDF Files): Supplementing the textbook and Help Files. I have assembled many tools and techniques documents and discipline specific guides.
Students may take advantage of the 2-hours of ‘Office-Hours’ I hold in the lab prior to class on Wednesdays. Ask questions, discuss projects.
Online Exercise and Project Data Archives (ZIP Files): Data I have assembled for practice and to support student projects.

I have personally used these rather inexpensive books for years, and refer to them often.
