Step 2: Go to Study Module 1 (DUE 2/20).

Step 3: Download and install Google Earth.

Step 4: Complete reading-exploratory assignments, online quizzes, and the Google Earth exercises.

Step 5: Decide on a region or country to profile for Inquiry 1 and/or the project.

Step 6: Examine Thematic Review—Introduction to Natural Disasters.

Step 7: Bookmark this page. Email me so I have your preferred email.

Step 8: Explore our web page and the textbook web site.

Step 9: Explore Current Recent Events links.

Step 10: Examine the CRED 2007 report.

 

· In the CRED 2007 report can you locate the countries noted  in the three ‘TOP 10’ graphics?

 

Step 11: Look ahead to Session 2—Ponder the following;

 

· Can you discuss the geographic patterns and relationships in the mapped data?

 

Step 12: Think about a model representing the concepts, data and tools we have discussed.

 

· Based on your reading, is the following a reasonable and testable proposition? Explain.

 

‘Populations with lower Human Development Indices suffer disproportionally in natural disasters’.

 

 

· If so, and generally speaking, what might you suggest as an actionable and timely strategic course of action to minimize casualties?
