Earth System Science Course Objectives

The objectives of this new course are to:

• facilitate thinking in terms of systems concepts
• develop each student's facility for modelling simple and complex systems
• gain perspectives of varying spatial and temporal scales of change
• explore the complexity of relationships between the major subsystems of the earth: atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere
• explore how these interractions change with time through our study of earth system history
