This image shows the weather station DELTA on northern Ellesmere Island in 1992. This particular weather station was operated for three years by the Climatology Lab of the University of Massachusetts as part of a multi-disciplinary research project investigating past climatic variability recorded in laminated lake sediments (Taconite Inlet Project). The proposed weather station on the Sajama Icecap will look somewhat similar, but will use a single aluminium pole instead of a tripod as main support.
