The Climate System Research Center is a research facility of the University of Massachusetts. Our research is focused on the climate system, climatic
variability and global change issues, from contemporary climate variations,
their causes and consequences, to paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes.
 Field camp for deep drilling at Lake El'gygytgyn, Central Chukotka April 2009. The camp on the lake margin was home to 40 staff, scientsts and drillers. The drilling platform is half way across the lake in the distance, some 7 kms away. Cores recovered from this site extend to 3.6 Ma.
 Somestimes the road to success is not a road! Kongsfjord, Svalbard. Research Experience on Svalbard 2011 students conducting CDT casts at Kronebreen where they spend 4 weeks studying glaciomarine processes at the tidewater marine with instructors Julie Brigham-Grette (UMass) and Ross Powell (NIU).
