We used Pb-210 dating and radiocarbon determinations to independently verify the annual interpretation of the sediment couplets. Based on the the results of the Pb-210 and the consistency of the sediment structures, we believe that Lake C2 is varved.
Due to difficulties in dating materials older than 150 years, we were unable to confirm the varve interpretation of older sediments.
