September 25, 2005 -- Project Oceanology

Professors Steve Burns and Steve Petsch along with Anna Martini of Amherst College took their courses: Sedimentary Geochemistry and Microbial Aspects of Biogeochemistry to visit Project Oceanology in Groton, CT. They taught the class how to take cores from Long Island Sound and how to analyze the sediments, and extract organic matter and nutrients from pore waters. Their classes will use the data and samples they collected in course projects throughout the semester.
